Our team recently visited the construction site of the new Dunedin Hospital Outpatient building, and we're excited to share fresh images and updates from this remarkable project.

The construction, funded by Health New Zealand Te Whatu Ora, is progressing swiftly, with the first stage—the Outpatient building—on track for completion in 2026. As part of New Zealand’s largest-ever health infrastructure investment, this $1.59 billion project will be executed in two phases: the first being the Outpatient building, followed by the Inpatient building.

Located in Dunedin, New Zealand, the new hospital will be a state-of-the-art, fit-for-purpose facility designed to benefit generations of people. It represents the largest health infrastructure investment in New Zealand’s history.

Designed by Warren and Mahoney Architects, and built by Southbase Construction, the new Outpatient building encompasses 10,000m2 of clinical space, a 5-star Greenstar Rating, and public areas with food and retail. The goal is to create an open, accessible and inclusive environment.

As the appointed contractor, SRG Global Facades has developed the technical aspects of the façade and is responsible for its installation. The façade features unitised modules engineered to meet New Zealand’s seismic standards, ensuring both safety and resilience.

The external cladding utilises custom Frontek XXL porcelain panels, adapted specifically for this project. The façade boasts a distinctive vertical installation pattern with bold diagonal cuts, combining gloss, depth, and vibrant finishes that bring the design to life.
