The building embodies the University’s Wingara Mura design principle, featuring the Yooroang Garang academic space (a dedicated space for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to connect and work together). Arcadia Landscape Architecture has designed Gadigal Ground, an area located at the intersection of two waterways historically significant for the Gadigal people, as an interpretation of the cycle of healing, stirring the body, mind and soul to reflect their approach to healing through the engagement of all the human senses.
At the podium, the unitized horizontal system uses Frontek’s Azabache panels in a stone texture finish reminiscent of stone, which evokes solidity and the lifted strata of the earth below.
This state-of-the-art new building spread out over 8 floors brings together the University of Sydney’s Susan Wakil School of Nursing and Midwifery, the Central Clinical School of the Sydney Medical School and the Sydney School of Health Sciences along with other components of the Faculty of Medicine and Health, accommodating seminar rooms, clinics, workspaces, a rehabilitation gym, a 350-seat theatre, and a library.
